WHAT IS AN ULTRASOUND?
Real-Time Imaging, Without Radiation
Ultrasound uses sound waves to create real-time images of structures inside the body. A sonographer moves a small handheld probe over the area being examined, with gel applied to the skin to help create clear images.
Ultrasound does not use radiation and is generally painless and non-invasive. It can provide valuable information about organs, soft tissue, blood flow and developing pregnancies.
Preparation depends on the area being scanned. You may be asked to fast, drink water or avoid going to the toilet before your appointment. Our team will provide the right instructions when you book.

Ultrasound is particularly useful for examining soft tissue and blood flow in real time.
