After completing her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science (BSc) and her postgraduate Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Queensland in 2003, Isobel began her General Practice training in Melbourne, where she obtained her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). She spent four years working in Melbourne, followed by three years in Sydney across a range of specialty practices, before returning home to Queensland.
Isobel is passionate about all facets of General Practice. She enjoys caring for patients across every life stage—from paediatrics, adolescents and young adults, through to the middle and later years—and values the personalised, diverse nature of medicine throughout the lifespan. As a GP registrar supervisor, she embraces the variety, challenge and responsibility that General Practice offers every day.
Following a growing interest in allergic conditions, Isobel undertook further study, completing the Diploma in Allergic Diseases through UNSW in 2013. During this time, she had the privilege of working alongside some of Australia’s leading allergists, providing her with invaluable insight into the current allergy epidemic—insight she integrates thoughtfully into patient care. Isobel maintains a strong interest in emerging scientific research, particularly in preventive and lifestyle medicine, and applies this evidence-based approach to both acute presentations and chronic conditions. She also enjoys performing practical procedures including ear microsuction, iron and other infusions, and ingrown toenail surgeries.
Outside of medicine, Isobel enjoys being in nature, spending time with family and friends, and practising the same lifestyle principles she encourages in her patients.
Dr Isobel Walker operates her own medical services business at Kedron Wavell Medical Centre.
